When you find out that your baby has tiny red bumps, don’t be afraid or get panicked instantaneously! Baby rashes are common for the infants and toddlers because almost all of the time they are in diapers. Here, we will discuss about the causes of common baby rashes and how to avoid them naturally so that the mothers would be better able to handle the hygiene of their babies.

The main cause of the rashes are the wet or seldomly changed diapers. Usually, mothers become lethargic in changing the diaper of their baby. This results in wet diaper for prolonged periods of time eventually leading to diaper rashes. Other causes include the sensitive skin of the baby. A sensitive skin is usually a hereditary trait and can often result in rashes. In addition, chafing is also one reason for the rashes. Chafing refers to excessive rubbing of a body part – baby’s bottom in this case – leading to the development of red itchy marks. There are several other causes such a bacterial infection, usage of new product (diapers) or side effects of a medication a baby is on but they usually occur rarely.

The symptoms of rashes is observed by the appearance of red skin, possibly itchy on the bottoms of the baby which include buttocks, thighs and genitals. Moreover, the behavior of the baby says a lot. You may see your baby crying more often or taking his or her hands frequently to the bottoms. This infers that the baby is feeling uncomfortable. Furthermore, when the area is washed the baby cries excessively because the rashes can sometime lead to the burning sensation in severe cases.

It is often said that ‘prevention is better than cure’. That’s why most of the causes of diaper rashes can be prevented if the mothers are prudent enough to take care of their baby’s hygiene. There are several natural ways to prevent diaper rashes before it gets worse.

Firstly, keeping the diaper area as clean and dry as possible seems to be the most viable option. Also, there are several strategies to help reduce the possibility of a rash. The foremost being changing the diapers frequently. This keeps the baby clean and there is less chance of an infection as well. Rinsing the baby’s lower body with warm water after every change of diaper will keep the area less susceptible to a rash. Here, one thing is to be noted that cleaning has to be done gently rather than scrubbing the skin. Additionally, keep the diapers a little loose since over-tightening them can create sweating and makes the baby uncomfortable. Upon changing the diapers, give your baby some time without the diapers as well because this will ensure the flow of fresh air to the lower part of the body keeping the skin mild and moist. Finally, wash your hands thoroughly after every wash so that any there are no remains of bacteria left.

Thus, by adapting the above strategies, the mothers will be able to better manage the hygiene and health of their child. Happy learning!
